The team made the trip down to Burlington, Ontario on Friday (April 28th) and weighed in and registered for the tournament.
First up was Ben Yull — our only Lil Nak Muay who got matched in the tournament! Ben did amazing in his bout and listened perfectly to Khun Zach’s coaching! He got the W and received the Provincial Champion medal! Congratulations Ben!
Jelena had a semi-final match with an extremely durable and tough opponent from Xtreme Couture! Jelena battered her opponent in the clinch and pulled the W! She advanced to the finals on Sunday for the Provincial Title! She had a hard fought battle on Sunday against last year’s Provincial Champ. She made a huge comeback in the 3rd with relentless clinch knees and out kick-boxed her opponent. It unfortunately wasn’t enough to seal the deal. She came home with a Silver Medal! Congratulations to Jelena on her first tournament experience and persevering through two hard fought fights.
Last we had Jason Yull, 46 years of age and father of 2 who joined the Elite Division to fight a much younger athlete. Jason showed tremendous heart and fought to the bitter end. Congrats to Jason for pushing the entire time and taking it to his opponent. He did fantastic on his first Muay Thai match! Congraulations!
On July 8th BUSHIDO II returns to rock Kemptville with lights, music and action-packed Muay Thai fights for the second year in a row! Last year we had a SOLD OUT show and we received incredible feedback from over 650 guests, saying it was the “best show of the year!” We know you’re all waiting on the edge of your seat to come back for more entertainment and Muay Thai energy!
This year, we’re delivering TWO shows for the price of one: First, a Youth Undercard (under 18) featuring local youth making their competitive debuts. We’re offering a reduced rate Youth ticket price for spectators age 12 and under, and minors are welcome to stick around for both shows.
Next, you’ll be floored by the POWER and head-spinning action of our Adult Main Card that entertains us for the rest of the night. You’ll be on the edge of your seat from bell 🛎 to hand raise! ☝️🏆 Adult ticket prices apply to spectators 13+ and allow entry into both shows.
Reasons why people love BUSHIDO Muay Thai shows:
It’s a family-friendly event. With the introduction of youth fights on the undercard (prior to the main card), there’s even more reason to bring the whole family! Kids will be able to relate to younger competitors and it might just spark something inside of them to compete under the big lights one day.
That BIG Muay Thai energy. Watching live fights is a bucket list item you can check off at BUSHIDO II — and luckily, you don’t have to travel far for the experience. Muay Thai is a respectful and honourable Martial Art that originated in Thailand. You’re going to witness a full range of athletes in their prime, at varying degrees of experience, battling and putting forth their greatest effort to showcase their power, speed and pristine striking techniques. Muay Thai is a combat sport that consists of boxing, kicking, kneeing, clinching and elbows. Guaranteed you will be on the edge of your seat from start to finish!
Full-serve bar and food on site. Everyone loved our food & drink offerings last year, so we’re doing it again — but better! Our VIP sponsor tables will be treated with a charcuterie board, also available for purchase by spectators at the bar. Our alcoholic beverages, served by Thirst Responders, will be catering a full range of beers, wines, liquors and champagne so you can properly celebrate the night’s wins! Food items available include but are not limited to: Pizza by-the-slice (Sam’s Pizzeria), egg rolls (Five Star Restaurant), charcuterie boards & chips.
Live DJ, emcee and all the snazzy fixtures of a top-tier Muay Thai stadium! You won’t recognize your local North Grenville Municipal Centre when you step through the doors on July 8th — you might think you walked through a portal into Bangkok! We invest a great deal of effort and consideration into decor, lighting, music and more to ensure you have a stellar night of high-energy entertainment!
We had two of our young Nak Muays, Ben Yull and Milo Richardson, step into the ring for their first time and they both secured the W! First up was Milo Richardson taking on a taller boy. Milo demonstrated amazing movement forwards and backwards and overwhelmed his opponent with boxing pressure (the mighty JAB) ! Great work Milo! Second up was Ben Yull — Ben demonstrated great low kicks and fought hard until the end. He kept pushing forward until the final bell and edged out the victory! Both boys showed amazing HEART and demonstrated great technique and IQ! Congratulations to Ben and Milo!
On April 1st, Boss Thai Boxing hosted the second instalment in our 2SLGBTQIA+ self-defence series, tailored specifically to YOUTH between the ages of 8-18.
The seminar was a blast and everyone was sweating and smiling! We covered positive self-talk and how to avoid being a target for bullies, how to handle abusive behaviour/bullying (verbal & physical) and compassion and sharing in an inclusive & safe space!
We are honoured to collaborate with North Grenville Rainbow Youth Alliance to guide a 60-min self-defence seminar geared specifically towards youth within the 2SLGBTQ+ “rainbow”! Keep an eye out for the next one!
